Nutmeg or Jaiphal comes from the same nutmeg tree from which mace is derived. Nutmeg refers to the seed inside the fruit that is dried and ground. It is normally added as a flavouring agent because of its nutty, slightly warm and sweet flavour. It can be added to cakes, custards, cookies and other confections.
